Laurie Ray, age 38, devoted wife and heroic mother, Kenneth Ray, age 16, Alicia Marie Ray, age 15, and Kristie Mae Ray, age 10, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 3, 2006, as the result of a tragic fire in their home. They are survived by their loving husband and father, Michael Ray; and their loving daughter and sister, Courtney Ray, both of Binghamton; parents and grandparents, Kenneth and Hilda Eastman, Edmenston, N.Y.; step-children and step-brothers and sisters, Sherry Shipman, Michael Ray Jr., Kevin Ray; also Laurie's three sisters and the children's aunts, Sherry Johnson, Teresa Kopp, Diane Rifanburg; also close friends, Mareen and Timothy Dahulich, William and Tammy Carney; and many many friends. Laurie attended Edmenston schools and was a LPN at the Willow Point Nursing Home. All of the children were currently students in the Binghamton school system.
A celebration of their lives will be held on Thursday evening, May 11, 2006, at the West Middle School auditorium, West Middle Ave., Binghamton at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Laurence J. Lord and the Rev. Cory VanKuren officiating. The doors will be open at 4:30 p.m. (public is welcome). After the service, the family will receive friends in the auditorium for those who wish to pay their respects and share their memories with them. In lieu of flowers, the First Ward Merchants Association is accepting donations for the Ray family. For those wishing checks may be made out to THE FIRST WARD MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION FIRE VICTIMS FUND. 100% of funds recieved will be given to the Ray family. Donations may be sent to: c/o Sedlock Funeral Home, Inc., 161 Clinton St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905. Funeral Services have been entrusted to the Sedlock Funeral Home.
