Lawrence Tiffany Obituary

Lawrence A. Tiffany
of Windsor, N.Y.
Lawrence "Bucky" Tiffany, 80, left this earthly shore and sailed over the vast atmospheric oceanic expanse to our heavenly shore on March 22. Those sadly standing waving "goodbye" as his ship left earths port are his only child, daughter, Jilda Rush; only surviving sibling, Florence Pedley; granddaughter, Adrianne Richie; and great-granddaughters, Melissa, Lauren, and Dani Arntt (Oregon); grandson, Tyler Rush (Oregon); mother-in-law, Eva Conrad; sisters-in-law, Edna Tiffany and Clara Conrad; nephews and nieces, Carl Tiffany Jr., Lori, Larky (Georgia), Lenny, Lars and Lindy Peterson, Georgina (Jeanne) Becker and Thomas Pedley; nieces-in-law, Vicki Ollerenshaw, Debbie Hughes (Nevada), and Lisa Glosenger. Those joyously standing waving "hello" on the eternal heavenly shore is the main one making the whole trip possible and paying the price, "Our Savior," accompanied by the following: Bucky's wife, Ruth Tiffany (a resident of our Lords land since 2002); Bucky's mom, Daisy Tiffany (1950); his dad, Claire Tiffany (1978); brother, Paul (1927); sister, Wanda Peterson (1981); brother, Carl Tiffany (1983); niece, Ena Ralston (2001); father-in-law, Lee Conrad (1992); brothers-in-law, Clifford Conrad (1959) and Gerald Conrad (1992); and the most recent family members to make the trip, nephew-in-law, Dale Conrad (2007); and nephew, Oscar Tiffany (2008). Bucky was a very talented hard worker who built his own home, doing all the carpentry, plumbing and electrical work himself; and cut and lifted 6" thick x 4' long stones to build his stonewall. Bucky was extremely strong for his size. Neighbors tell how he literally lifted cars out of the ditch when they became stuck in front of his house. He worked for Endicott Johnson for thirteen years repairing sewing machines, then for NYSDOT for 32 years as an electrician on the Traffic Signal Crew (up in "the bucket" repairing and installing traffic lights in all kinds of inhumane weather.) During those years he held a second job doing carpentry work for friends and neighbors, mostly at no cost, accepting only the occasional homemade apple pie. He specialized in making kitchen cupboards, remodeling bathrooms and building garages. People remark how they'd watch him fit and re-fit 'til the work was nigh perfect. Thus, he should be a shoe-in for J.C.'s Carpenter's Union (Jesus Christ's). Bucky's wife, Ruth, was an excellent seamstress on earth, who is probably making swaddling clothes for J.C. right now: so now Bucky can make the mangers. Bucky ran a full out strong race for such a little man, but the approach to the finish line went agonizingly slow from 2001-2008 as the first boulder thrown in his path was dementia; followed by another large stone, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; then, one leg was taken out from under him by a major blockage of his femoral artery; then he fell in a pot hole of lung cancer; and finally a wash-out of liver cancer so forceful it transported him to his docked and waiting rescue ship. Angelic hands reached over the side, grasping his weary body as soul on deck. I think he was glad to be on board because I don't recall him even turning 'round to wave back to us as we tearfully stood on shore waving with all our might. Those who tried to make the last yards of his race smoother, picking him up the many times he fell are his daughter, Jilda, who cared for him for four years; friend, Dale Morreale, who supported him for one year; primary doctor, Thomas Jones, who picked him up and patched him up for ten years; Dr. Pacheco who tried to help him get his wind back for ten years.
The family will receive friends at Blatchley Sunshine Valley Wesleyan Church, Thursday morning, March 27th, from 10 a.m. until service time at 12 Noon, with Rev. Jacob Robinson officiating. Those wishing to acknowledge Bucky may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the Sunshine Valley Wesleyan Church, 407 Blatchley Road, Windsor, N.Y. 13865. Final resting place will be Blatchley Cemetery.

Dearest Jilda and Family,

So sorry to read of Bucky's death. He was always terrific to me and made a point of stopping by my desk to chat when he was in the office. I am sorry his last years have been filled with illness. He did not deserve it, but they say some people take on the pain for the rest of us. I know he will be happy in Heaven with your Mom. I feel very blessed to have known both of them. God Bless You Always.
