I never met Malinda, but we were pen pals of sorts. Long before the days of Google & AI, she posted a question in the back of a magazine with her name & address. How trusting we were back then! She needed help finding a copy of a book. So I looked it up and wrote her a letter explaining how and where she could purchase a copy. She wrote me back such a nice thank you that I sent her a Christmas card that year. After that we were regular Christmas card exchangers. I would tell her a little bit about my life in Michigan and we´d compare snowfall totals. She mentioned the loss of her daughter which I imagine was very difficult for her. I don´t know if she had any other children. But it makes me sad that this is all of the obituary she was given. I didn´t realize how old she was, but noticed the shakiness in her handwriting as the years passed. The last card I received from her was in 2012. But I continued to send one to her, assuming she was too old to respond. In 2018, I gave up, uncertain of her address and feeling overwhelmed with my own life. I wish I´d tried harder to locate her. She was probably lonely. But it was wonderful knowing a tiny bit of a person in another life through the quaint act of sending a missive. She was a very kind and thoughtful person! The photo I´ve attached is one of her cards that I saved... May your life have been happy, healthful, prosperous, and full of love. May you rest in peace now. Thank you for your kind words. You will be remembered.
