Marie Hirko
of Binghamton
Marie Hirko, 89, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 13, 2005, at Willow Point Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband, George Hirko; her parents, Frank and Anna Muska; three sisters, Ann Emminger, Helen Paine and Delores Muska; one brother, Frank Muska. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Chester Lelio, Alameta, Calif.; Elaine and Michael Zervos, Troy, N.Y.; one son and daughter-in-law, George E. and Rose Hirko, Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren, Dr. Thomas, Dr. David and James Lelio, Stacy D'Ambra, David and Karen Hirko, Jessica and Aaron Zervos; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Dobish; special great-niece, Jill Klusoczky; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was a member of the Broome County Republican Club, AARP, 1st Ward Senior Center, and Lourdes Hospital Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Lourdes Hospital and RSVP. She retired from the Broome County Dept. of Social Services.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 9:15 from the Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, Inc., 71 Main St., Binghamton, and at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, where the Rev. John J. Cigan will celebrate the Divine Liturgy. Burial will be in Holy Spirit Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Father John will conduct Parastas at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Church, 360 Clinton St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13903.
