Martin E. "Bud" Loefstedt
of OxfordMartin E. Bud Loefstedt, 87 of Oxford, N.Y., formerly of Buffalo, Syracuse and Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died on May 7, 2004 at his home. He was born on September 9, 1916 in Syracuse, the son of the late Martin J. and Anna B. (Schaefer) Loefstedt. In 1943, he married Mary Gilmore, who died on June 28, 1988. He is survived by his children, Michael G. and Kathey Loefstedt of Hamlin, N.Y., Martin G. and Carol Loefstedt of Oxford, N.Y., and Jeffrey L. and Marialice Loefstedt of Kirkville, N.Y.; his daughter-in-law, Ginny McCumber of Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Bret Loefstedt, Tracy and J.R. Neopolian, Julie and Jeffrey Loefstedt, Robin and Ken Elliot, Tara Deubler, and Laura Deubler; his great-grandchildren, Katie, Paul, Joseph, Jimmy and Felicia. His son, Jon A. Loefstedt, predeceased him. Bud graduated from North High School, Syracuse in 1934 and attended Syracuse University. He retired from Syracuse Supply Co. as Vice President after 38 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic in the European Theatre. He was a member of Limestone Tennis Club in Manlius, a charter member of the Cazenovia Country Club and a member of the Snee Farm Tennis and Golf Club, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He was a former member of the Chittenango Board of Education. He was a past president of the East Cooper Hospital Volunteer Assn. of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He was an active member of Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion in Oxford and enjoyed working on their weekly breakfast.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, N.Y. from 4 to 7 p.m., where members of Fort Hill Post will conduct a service at 7 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Welter-Price Funeral Home, 2649 James St., Syracuse, N.Y.
