Every day I remember Matt when I look at our trees, bushes, stone patio and especially our oak tree which he and his family managed over the years. Matt was a mighty oak of righteousness and justice whose soul rests in eternal peace with Our Lord.

I'm so sorry for your loss. There is no heartache like the pain of a parent that loses a child, and the loss of of a life so young. My heart aches for you and the loss of your dreams for your son, brother, grandson, and nephew.

I first heard about this from my brother who worked with and spoke well of Matt. Devastating is as close as I can come in describing this news and feel how fruitless this condolence must sound in wake of such a tragedy.
But know that the thoughts and best from the Ferris family go out to you in an effort to lessen your grief and that the cherished memories of a son, a brother, a friend, the man you helped raise will carry you through these tough times.

Matt was a mighty oak of righteousness planted by the Lord (Isaiah 61.3) and now will soar high on wings like an eagle (Isaiah 40.31). We shall miss him dearly, but when we look at our red oak or see an eagle high in the blue sky, we shall know that Matt is there. Matt, see you soon my beloved friend. Peter

I did not know Matt personally. I heard about him and his business partner, Ryan, regularly from my friend Professor Pazzaglini. Matt had a terrific landscaping company, and Professor P spoke so admiringly of his work ethic, his humor and "smarts," and his deep kindness as a human being. I live far away, but I, too, shall mourn and pray for this lovely young man. Recquesiat in pace to a young man of enormous promise. He gave a lot while he could, and that is the best anyone can do in this life.

Heart felt condolences to the entire Cook families & friends. I didnot know Matt personally; I feel as though I did. I heard his name a lot & have many pictures of him & my son Michael R. Hawley that good back years. He was an amazing friend to Michael. A true giant & hero in peoples eyes. I know he was kind , sweet & generous. I know he loved the outdoors & that he had a spirit of adventure that filled his whole being. ( hence the pictures I have of Michaels & other friends outdoor endeavors & adventures ) My daughter has a short video in her cell from last June of Matt & Michael just laughing & talking from last June when Matt attended Mikes Grsndmothers 80th birthday party. This is difficult time. My heart feels broken for all of you. Prayers & wishes for standing strong & together. Sincerely, Christine Hawley

We needed someone to keep our driveway clear whi!e we were away during sinter. Our neighbor gave us Matt's name. He plowed our driveway but never picked up his check because he wasn't happy with the way he cleared it. We texted back and forth several times but, still, he let it go. I often mentioned to my husband that he must be an extraordinary
young man...and this morning we are shocked to know he's gone. I am heartbroken. A loss like this is simply unexplainable. We are both so very sorry for his family and his many friends. My regret is that we never got to meet.

We only met Matt a few weeks ago when he came to our home to look at a job, but we feel as if we had always known him. He lived next door to my sister and brother in law, and Don often told us of how Mat had been to visit him outside or in his workshop and what a nice little boy he was way back then when he was a child. We feel so bad about this and after the death of our own son, we appreciate what the family is enduring now. You will all continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

I've known Matt all his life. Being a neighbor and friend of the family...I've watched him grow up and mature into a fine, upstanding young man. I cannot express how sorry I am to have heard of his passing!!! My deepest regrets and condolences to Jeff & Myrna Cook...Laura & Michael Corson...and all the family & friends that knew & loved Matt. He had a great smile...an infectious smile. He was a kind & humble young man...always willing to help. A reliable, hard working young man from what I've seen & known. Just tragic to have lost a young man with all the attributes that any parent could be proud of! "Matt...you will be missed beyond any understanding you could have had. Rest in Peace."

I am so sorry to hear about your loss! Matt always took such great care of my mom in the winter. He was always there to plow the driveway so she didn’t have to use the snowblower. She and the rest of the family appreciated his kindness. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

This beautiful child has pulled/ towed me out of more ditches on tracey creek and underwood on the worst of snowy days. He was an angel and will continue to be one in our lives. I am so sorry and sad to hear of his passing, but know, he was cherished as the neighborhood watch and sweet kind soul. Our thoughts and love are with you all.

Matt stood for kindness and good. He was hard working and determined. He worked hard and lived to be outdoors. His smile was infectious as was his laugh. He adored and loved his family. Not a sportsman but an outdoorsman. He loved nature and would rather be outside, no matter the weather, rather than be stuck inside.
Let us hear you laugh for it will lift us up Matt..............always.

My heart is broken as I have JUST NOW learned of this...OMG No!!! Matt you are not gone,,,ever. I can hear your laugh and see that smile, I am so sad. I have known you since way back when, I am so sad for your mom and dad-who you adored, for your brothers-who you cherished forever. You were wise beyond your years..and yes my friend, you were WISE too always making me laugh. Just the way you could tell stories of this or that, it was that look you gave that gave it all away and then I would laugh. So many times you would say nothing but I could tell what you were thinking. How crushed and empty so many will be without you. Climb to trees, snowmobile as fast as you want now, go boating and fishing there too. I am numb and in total shock. Cook Family my deepest deepest forever condolences to you all, they are not enough but he will always and often make you laugh and smile with so many wonderful memories. Rest High On That Mountain Matt.
Always, Ms. Beach (Kurt Burkhardt's mom)
