It's so very hard to believe that it's been 4 years. I know that Matt and I hadn't seen each other in years, but he made such a huge impact in my life in our earlier years. At a recent class reunion/get together Matt's name came up in many conversations, always with laughter and love for the time that we cherished with him.
To his wife and children, I am so very sorry that you are having to adjust to a different life than you ever expected. My prayers are with you always.

This was my main road dog back in our early to late teenage years EVERY Passover...
We stuck together everyday of the whole week or two, everyday, like my father and his father did without any problems...
Matt was probably my first real friend I hung out with on the land in Belleville...
He moved on in life and we never saw each other again physically...
But when we connected again on fb some 40 years later, I was so glad to touch base with him again and he told me he was too...
He sent me pictures of his wife and family, and I sent him pictures of me and my wife and family...
Laughing and reminiscing at where we were then in our wild crazy days, to where we were now...
I missed him then, and when I found out he was sick, but still looking healthy, I thought we would meet up again, before we leave this world...
R.I.P. Matt...
Until we meet again My Friend...♥

Cunningham Family: I am sorry to hear of Matt's passing. I remember Matt from HS. He was a few years behind me but was very involved with our basketball team and a joy to be around. Even though a few years younger than me, he was more mature, intelligent and caring than most of us. Since I moved away after college, I had not seen or heard from him in over 40 years but he reached out to me on Facebook a few years back. Once connected, I could witness from a distance his love of family. His involvement in his community, friends and his battle with his health. He is gone much too soon and I hope the memories you all shared and the friends you have can make this difficult time easier. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. May Matt RIP and watch over you all.

I am deeply saddened by the all too early passing of Matt. He actually came to my home, when I called NYSEG about a peculiar odor. It wasn't a gas leak. But Matt was kind, and professional, and reassuring. His parents were my neighbors for many years, until they passed. Mo and I graduated from high school, together. I want to express my sincere condolences to Mo, Mike, Mark, and their families. May the memories of happier times help you through this terrible loss.

The best neighbor, a great friend. Watched him volunteer to coach several youth sports programs. If he didn't know much about a particular sport he asked questions and did the absolute best he could. Always there for his own children, he also was there for many more. A hearty laugh, a quick smile and a bear hug. Will be in our hearts forever and truly missed. RIP Matt

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Matt's passing. We first "encountered" Matt in the halls and classrooms at BNHS! His presence, smile, sense of humor and infectious laugh were amazing.....you always new when Matt "was in the house". Anytime we would run into Matt at a store or restaurant he always greeted us with that fabulous smile and great personality. Rest in peace Matt. You will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Matthew and my heart felt condolences to his family and close friends. It’s been a long time since North High and the carefree life of then. The last time I talked with Matt I was D Jing a party at the North Minster Prespyterian Church and how proud he was of his family. His is definitely a success story. It will take time to rebuild the strength and stability of the foundation for the future , and again you can experience a variety of situations some planned some surprising but with the Grace of God most welcomed.
