of Binghamton Michael E. Connolly, 39, of Binghamton died Saturday afternoon, August 24, 2002 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Penny and his cherished son, Ryan; his mother, Patricia Ross; brothers, Timothy and Cheryl Connolly, Mark and Wendy Connolly, Andrew Connolly; sister, Molly and Dave Forkey; father-in-law, Dick and Rosemarie Kleitz; maternal grandmother, Helen Newland; aunts and uncles, Bill and Tricia Newland, Tom and Sherry Newland, Linda and David Snyder; brother-in-law, Richard and Carie Kleitz; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was a member of St. Paul's Church, Binghamton; graduate of Binghamton North High School, Class of 1981 and was Quarterback for the last North High Football Team. He was a self-employed contractor. He was active in coaching football, baseball, and hockey and touched the lives of many young people. The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude all of their many friends, including Dr. Spivak and staff at Lourdes Hospital, Upstate Medical Center and Rochester General Hospital for their love and support during this difficult time. Mike was tremendously loved and will never be forgotten. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, corner of Chenango and Robinson Streets, Binghamton, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mike may be made to an Educational Trust Fund for his son, Ryan, c/o BSB Bank & Trust, 156 Robinson Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13904.
