Nicholas Ezzo Obituary

Ezzo, Nicholas D.

Nicholas D. Ezzo, 62, of Vestal died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at home with family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Schenectady, NY, the son of Michael Ezzo, Sr. and Elizabeth Proper Marx. Nicholas graduated from St. Peter's Academy. He began his successful restaurant career with Mangino's on Saratoga Lake and then continued his career with IHOP for 17 years. After IHOP he moved on to develop his own concept restaurant, Christie's Steakhouse for 16 years where he put his passion for food and community to work. In addition to Christie's in 1997 he returned to IHOP opening his franchise in Vestal, NY. Nicholas brought a zest and passion for life to everything he did. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he genuinely loved people. For Nicholas, family was of utmost importance; he cherished his wife and two daughters, and it brought him joy to provide for his family. He was a hard worker and built lasting friendships throughout the country over his lifetime. He was known as a true and loyal friend. He always enjoyed sharing his love of cooking and creating with his family, friends, and customers. When not in the kitchen you could find him on the golf course enjoying a few rounds with friends. He was also a member of Endicott Sons of Italy. Nicholas was predeceased by his father, Michael J. Ezzo Sr.; his mother, Elizabeth M. Proper Marx; his sister, Mary Elise Marx; his brother Joseph Marx Jr.; and his sister, Kathleen Marie Wittman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cathy Ezzo of Vestal; loving daughters, Nicole Ezzo of Portland, ME and Christina Marie Banks and her husband, Eric, of Portland, OR; his grandchildren, Addyson and Ashton Banks; his brother, Michael Ezzo of Whitesboro; and cousins, nieces and nephew. Funeral Services will be held Monday 4 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main St., Endicott, with the Reverend Michael Willis, Pastor of Vestal United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Lourdes Hospice, www.elourdes.com/hospice-donations.asp or Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, www.mskcc.org/giving.

Kathy, so sorry for your loss. I always loved seeing Nick and having lunch with him.. We were the same age and enjoyed conversations about the seventies. I know Nick loved you more then life itself by just talking to him about his family..
very sad day. I know this must be horrible for you and your family but see if you can through this and remember all the good times in the past with Nick. Mark Northern Tier Commercial
