Patricia Strauss Obituary
Patti Strauss, 70, of Boca Grande, FL, and Schooley's Mountain, NJ, originally from Vestal, NY, passed away at her residence in Florida on February 6, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents Patsy and Julia Scarano and her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Anderson. She is survived by Ira, her loving and devoted husband of over 47 years; brothers, Anthony (Janet) of Vestal, NY and Dr. Thomas Scarano (Margaret) of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her aunts, Ann Robilatti and Vesta Scarano, both of Endwell. Surviving also are special niece, Karen Scarano and her son, Anthony, of Vestal, NY; and special nephew, Patrick Scarano of Denver, CO; as well as many other nephews, nieces, and cousins. Patti graduated from Vestal Central High School, class of 1962. She also graduated from Grace Downs Modeling School in NYC and attended Rutgers University. She later started her own travel agency in NYC and also worked for Eastern Airlines. For many years, Patti and Ira divided their time between their homes on Fire Island, NY, Schooley's Mountain, NJ, and Boca Grande, FL. Patti was well known in the community for her daily six mile, early morning, run on the beaches or through the village. Along with running she was also an accomplished swimmer and an excellent homemaker. She loved animals and very much enjoyed her dogs, geese, and ducks. Most of all, Patti was a loving and devoted wife. Patti is one of a kind who will be missed by her family and many friends.

I learned of Pat Strauss´s passing a few days ago on 10/11/24 when I tried to reach out to her; I enjoyed her enjoyable Christmas cards with photos of Ira & Pat and my life became extremely busy after my children were in sports and prepping for college. I remember Patricia Strauss´s joy filled smile as I tutored her in English lessons from the summer of 2003 in her to when she moved full time to Florida. She wrote me a most beautiful most thoughtful and carefully worded full page best possible work reference recommendation letter, which I cherish even more now. The last sentence she wrote: "Confronting English lessons has always been an unhappy occasion for me but Elisabeth has made it a pleasurable experience." I want to say that Pat and Ira made it a pleasurable experience for me, too. With fond memories of Pat and Ira Strauss, Elisabeth Davidson, 10/16/24.

I am so sorry to 'just' find out that Patti has passed away. She was a very nice lady . I met her and Ira when I answered an ad for a Jaguar for sale. I and my nephew Mike ended up buying all three of Ira and Patti's collection of Jaguars. I became a friend of theirs and we corresponded after that . Once their Christmas cards stopped arriving I became concerned and began trying to contact them. I couldn't contact them due to their Florida and NJ tel. #'s being disconnected . Now I know why. This is such a sad discovery. I would like to contact Ira if possible. I hope he reads this or if a family member can help to put me in contact I would appreciate it.

Having just learned the sad news of Patti's passing, we want to express our condolences to Ira and to Patti's family.
I first met Patti shortly after I went to work for Ira in 1972. Over the years we became friends and always looked forward to our visits with Patti and Ira each year while they resided in the Schooley's Mt. residence.
We loved them as a devoted couple, enjoyed their sense of humor, and perspective about life.
Patti enjoyed cooking so we shared many memorable meals together as well as fun stories.
She will be missed, we are sorry for the loss of someone we came to know as a kind, talented, and sensitive person. She is in our thoughts.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Ira and the Scarano family for passing of Patti. She will always be remembered as a kind, sweet and dear
neighbor on Schooley's Mountain. She was a devoted and loving wife. Her love for her dogs, the local wildlife including her turkeys, the bears,"the llama", birds and the fish was contagious. We miss Patti, and will always remember her in our thoughts and prayers.

Tony - I was so sorry to read of Patti's passing. I remember the time in the 70's I met Patti, Ira and their poodle. The four of us went to Fire Island by yellow Lamborghini and ferry. Patti was so friendly and nice. I am so sorry for your loss. -Carolyn
