Mr. O'Connor will always be one of my favorite teachers. He taught the stories of history in a conversational way and kept it all interesting. I really enjoyed his style, and his passion for the subject was evident! When he had breaks from class he would often walk down to to the Sky Hi and drink coffees with my dad, also a lover of history. I have never forgotten him. M.O.

Mr. O'Connor was also one of my favorite teachers at Vestal High School. Beth Holleran and I had so much fun with him and he made you take serious, serious notes...pages. I also had the pleasure of babysitting his son once or twice. As an educator now (Elementary and Music) I really appreciate his fun, dry, witty sense of humor along with his high expectations and unwillingness to take bologna. (He gave me detention when I yelled out his window at friends one day...). God bless him in heaven and God bless his family here. I am very sorry for your loss. He was a great man and a very good teacher as well as friend. Loved shooting the breeze with him and talking about anything. He made, as one other said, learning-and I'll add high school- fun. I was sad when he left NY. God bless.

Had Mr. O'Connor for history at Vestal HS back in the 80s. One of my favorite teachers ever. Sparked my love for history, for sure. Thoughts and prayers for your family. X - Jamie Wasley Oliver

Went to school with PJ. He was such a great guy and always was quick with a witty remark. May the Lord bring you peace and comfort at this difficult time. Carol Emmick Dutton.
