Johnson City: Pauline (Czebiniak) Sanyshyn, 89, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents, William & Maria Czebiniak; her first husband, John (Jack) Slattery and her second husband of 57 years Michael Sanyshyn; five brothers, Michael, Peter, Dimitri, Andrew and Joseph; also two sons-in-law, John Bokal and Jack Kaley. She is survived by three sons and daughters in law, David and Dana, Joseph and Zirka, all of Nanticoke, NY, also Nicholas and Maria of Brewster, NY; five daughters and sons in law, Ann Bokal, Endwell, Joan & John Grippe, Queens, NY, Theresa & Ernest Riegel, Nanticoke, NY, Katherine Kaley, Apex, NC, Mary & Tony Pydyn of Austin, TX; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Victoria Hewko, San Gabriel, CA and Anne Czebiniak, Binghamton; a brother and spouse, John & Kay Czebiniak, Binghamton; sisters in law, Betty Czebiniak, Binghamton, Geraldine Czebiniak, Johnson City, Mary Breatchel, Bath, NY and Eva Czebiniak, of Johnson City; numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline was a devoted mother, grandmother (Baba) and great grandmother. She was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Johnson City, a member of the Apostleship of prayer and an expert "pyrohi pincher." Throughout her life she maintained a positive attitude, teaching all of us by example. She was immensely proud of all the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holidays at her house were filled with love, traditional food and singing. A funeral service will be held 9:00AM Friday, April 10, 2015 at Laskowski Funeral Home and at 9:30AM at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, 230 Ukrainian Hill Road, Johnson City where the Divine Liturgy will be recited by Rev. Teodor B. Czabala Jr. Burial will be in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Endicott at a later date. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4-6:30PM when a prayer service (Parastas) will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline's name to the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Church Building Fund.
