Peter Homenchak Obituary
of Binghamton
Peter M. Homenchak, 64, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully after a 5-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on Monday, December 28, 2009, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Homenchak. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maria (Woysnar) Homenchak, Binghamton; a daughter, Kristy Homenchak of Independence, MO; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Patricia Homenchak of Hilton Head Island, SC; six grandchildren, Heather, Joshua, Justin, Jessica, Marley and Dylan; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Char Homenchak, Scranton, PA; nephew and spouse, T.R. and Courtney Homenchak of PA; niece and spouse, Dawn Marie and Joseph Borosky; two aunts and a spouse, Betty Miller and Mary and Edmund Solosky, all of Scranton, PA; great-niece and nephew, Sean and Kelly of PA. Peter was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church, Binghamton. He served in the US Coast Guard and was a retired Endicott Policeman with 17 years of service. He was self employed as a painter and wallpaper hanger for 20 years in Hilton Head, SC. His life revolved around his children and his grandchildren; they were his joy and the light of his life.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010, at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church, Binghamton. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements and supervision by:

Dear Maria, I am very sorry to hear about Pete's passing. Pete and I attended St. Ann's High School together and were very good friends. I remember being down Sloan Playground with Paulette as Pete would wait for you to come from Binghamton. He was a close friend to me and my family. Peter was a special human, he always made people laugh, and was kind.
I know he is with the Lord and is in eternal peace.

I'm sorry to learn of Pete's passing. He did work in my villa and the Homechak's lived here until I retired and moved in. Then they rented across the street. He always entertained those around him.

To the Homenchak family, i met Peter the first week he moved on the island, then having the pleasure to meet all of you thereafter. He loved his family so much and always had that smile and wit to share with friends. We all share your loss but memories of Peter will remain.
