of BinghamtonRobert L. Balcom, 80, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, in 1984; his brother, Floyd Balcom, in 1991; and sister-in-law, Alice Balcom. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Lori Balcom, Binghamton, Richard and Sue Ellen Balcom, Dallas Tex.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amanda and Ryan Balcom; two nieces, Nancy Apalovich, Binghamton, Joan Simons Endwell; cousins, Alice Kiley, Binghamton, Arlene Berry, Johnson City. Lee Balcom, Syracuse; a special friend, Katie Cline, Binghamton. Robert was a US Marine Corp veteran of WWII serving in the pacific theatre. He was a former member of the Binghamton Auxiliary Police and a long time member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. Binghamton. He was a retired electrician Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tower of Memories at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The Rev. Neil McClelland will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one s choice. Arrangements are by the Ernest H. Parsons Funer Home, Inc., 71 Main St., Binghamton.
