Robert Muller Obituary

Robert D. Muller
of Sunrise Terrace
Robert D. Muller, 94, of Sunrise Terrace, died on October 16 at Elizabeth Church Manor. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ethel (Jarman) Muller; brothers, Karl Muller, Dunmore, Pa., Wesley Muller, Clarks Summit, Pa., and Fred Muller, Austin, Tex.; and his sister, Gertrude Allen, Scranton, Pa. He is survived by his son, Tom Muller, Binghamton, son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Mary Muller, Bristol, Conn.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Muller, St. Paul, Minn. and Thomas B. Muller, Cambridge, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Mildred Muller, Dunmore, Barbara Muller, Austin, and Winnie Muller, Lake Winola, Pa.; brother-in-law, Clark Jarman, Pleasant Gap, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Dunmore in 1913, Bob graduated from Dunmore High School and received his Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Alabama. He subsequently worked for Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Buffalo, N.Y., where he was most proud of his design work on the P-40 fighter plane during World War II. Following the war, Bob and his family returned to Scranton, where Bob worked for the Murray Corporation. The family moved to Binghamton in 1957 when Bob took a job with Ozalid/GAF, from which he retired in the mid-1970s as head of the experimental department. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed the company of a wide circle of friends through his avid pursuit of golf (four holes-in-one) and other activities including bridge, travel, gardening, home repair, and walking in Otsiningo Park. He was also a member for 50 years of Trinity Memorial Church, where he served as a scout leader and basketball coach. The family extends its thanks to the staff at St. Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for the wonderful care provided to Bob since June and to Bob's neighbors in Sunrise Terrace, whose assistance contributed greatly to his ability to remain in his home for as long as possible.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Memorial Church on a date to be announced later. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Memorial Church, 44 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
