Cpl. Robert C. Ryan 87, of Windsor passed away on January 22, 2017. Bob was predeceased by his parents Clinton and Lucy (Haydn) Ryan; brother Gerald Ryan; his grandparents Charles and Edna (Van Atta) Haydn, Robert John and Adelaide (White) Haydn; daughter-in-law Laurie (Paetzold) Ryan, Aunts, Uncles and cousins on both sides Ryan's and Haydn's. Robert served in the AMEDS USAR (Army) during the Korean war, serving active duty from 1951-1953 and the reserves from 1953 to 1959. He worked for NYS at the Binghamton Psych Center for over 44 years. He served as a volunteer fireman with the West Windsor Fire Dept. and EMS Squad. Robert was active in Broome County Politics and chairman of the Windsor Democratic party for many years. Bob was the first president of the Weeks Elementary School (PTA) for 3 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1645 for over 50 years, VFW in Kirkwood, and the Binghamton Elks Lodge 70. Bob married the love of his life March 19, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Alma Calisi Ryan; children James P. (Melanie) Ryan, Patti Ryan Meaker, JeanMarie Ryan, Michael Ryan; grandchildren Christopher Meaker, Breanne Meaker, Connor Ryan, Zachary Little, Kaitlyn Ryan and Sarah Ryan; brother in-laws John (Janet) Calisi, George Calisi, Anthony (Marion) Calisi; sister in-law Nancy Ryan, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families; as well as many good friends. Visitation will be held on Friday January 27, 2017 at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904 from 4 until 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at St. Paul's Church in Binghamton at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; or the Danielle House 160 Riverside Dr. Binghamton, NY 13905 or the Broome County Dog Shelter 110 Cutler Pond Rd. Binghamton, NY 13905, in Robert's Memory.
