Sheila Davis Obituary

Davis, Sheila E. (Donovan)

Vestal: 65, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on September 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Sheila is predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Thelma Donovan, mother and father in law, Basil and Georgeanne Davis, two brothers-in-law, Raymond Folli and Gary Ede and her infant granddaughter, Arden Rebecca Davis. Sheila is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry and four children and their spouses, Kimberly & Shawn Sprague, Apalachin, NY, Karin & Brian Hannon, New York, NY, Michael & Abigail Davis, Vestal, NY, and Joel & Elba Davis, Apalachin, NY. She is also survived by her 10 very special grandchildren: Drew, Matthew & Sydney Sprague, Delaney & Patrick Hannon, Truman & Allegra Davis, and Ethan, Jack & Baby Davis. Sheila is survived by four sisters, Peggy & Hugh Williams, Endicott, NY, Barbara Ede, Mesa, AZ, Kathleen & Don Bouchard, Endicott, NY and Ann Marie Folli, Endicott, NY and two brothers, Patrick & Faye Donovan, Bluffton, SC, and Michael & Laura Donovan, Sun Lake, AZ and a sister in law, Betty Ann and Bill Cunningham, Hendersonville, NC and brother in law, Richard and Judy Davis, Tuscaloosa, AL. And many nieces and nephews and their families. Sheila is also survived by very special friends: Joan & John Novitsky, Megan & Roger Kosar, Abbe & Frank Hamill, Gary Reardon & Carole Cargill and many other dear friends whose lives she touched and who touched hers in return. Sheila was a kind, loving and giving person who devoted her life to raising her four children. Twenty years after her youngest graduated from high school she would still make sure she was home by 3:00 PM to greet the school bus. Sheila enjoyed golfing, going to lunch with her sisters, vacationing with family and friends and of course shopping. Sheila's support of the local economy will be greatly missed. Most important to Sheila was the love she had for her family, especially her adored grandchildren. Her world revolved around spending time with them and attending their activities. Mimi's house was always the gathering place for Sunday dinners, Giant games, birthday parties, holidays and special occasions for family and friends. Mom, we will always love you with all our hearts. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Lourdes Hospital. Special thanks to Toby in ER, Michelle and Lisa from Ross 1. Our deepest appreciation to Dani in ICU, she adored you. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main Street Johnson City. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. Burial will follow the funeral mass at Calvary Cemetery. Miss You Everyday Mom....

Matthews Family

September 27, 2012

Dear Larry, Kim, Karin Mike, Joel and families,
We would like to begin by extended our deepest sympathy to you and your entire family.
It is so hard to capture the spirit of a loved one in such a short period of time, but you all did an amazing job of expressing who she was and celebrating her life.
We have shared so many good times throughout the years with Shelia and find it hard to say goodbye so soon, but will take comfort in knowing that she is at peace.
We will always remember the many trips our families took and the laughs that we shared......what wonderful memories!
There is nothing that we can say to take the pain away, but please know that you remain constant in our prayers and we are here if you need us!
With Love, Micki, Jim, Molly & Katie

Dear Larry,Kim,Karin,Mike,and Joel,
I was so very saddened to hear from Marisa about your sweet wife and mother . Some of our best memories of life on Frederick/Hillside included her: summers at your pool, popsicles in the freezer, block parties, chatting at the bar in the kitchen, picking Marisa up after school when Sheila watched her. She would do anything to help anyone. She made you feel so comfortable in her home-always inviting you over.We loved the years we spent as neighbors and are happy to have known her.She was an amazing lady. Sending you much love at this very tough time. God bless you all.

Larry and Family
Gene and I are saddened to learn of Shiela's passing. She was truly a beautiful person. I will always remember our times at Myrtle Beach. We used that time to catch up on what had been going on in our families lives and when she would talk about her family there was never a doubt as to the love she had for each of you. Our golfing trips were full of fun and laughter. I believe that is when we both decided not to go on tour. Having known Shiela was a priviledge and we shall never forget her. our prayers are with you. Gene and Pola Wilhelm

She was the Mom all of us girls wanted as our own growing up. She always had time to talk and genuinely wanted to hear what we had to share. What an amazingly written obituary by all the kids. I don't think I have ever laughed out loud while reading one. Just the way 'She' would have wanted it! My love to all the Davis'.

Such a special person. My heart goes out to all of you. Having know Sheila since 9th grade at JFS, I can tell you that what she wanted from life was exactly what she got....a wonderful husband and beautiful children and grandchildren. Though this time will be difficult, I'm sure you will feel her presence often and she will never be too far away. How lucky you all were to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Today has been a very sad day for so many. Rest in peace Sheila. Your in God's hands now.
