Theresa Tiemann

Owego, NY: Theresa Tiemann, 82, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and dear friend Peggy Kirch. She was predeceased by her parents, Darley and Yvonne Welburn; brother, Arthur (Lilo) Welburn; grandson, Isaac Keyes. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Karl; brother, Joseph (Marilyn) Welburn, Kentucky; sister-in-laws Lydia (Merrill) Lynn, Big Flats, Adrian Tiemann, New York City; cousin, Margot Sauvé, Ottawa, Canada; daughters, Mary Van Dyke, Schenectady, Louise Tiemann (Kris Keyes), Vestal, Joan Fudala (Carl), Texas; son, Andrew Tiemann (Donna), Maine; eight grandchildren, Jessica, April, Christine, Alex, Rosa, Elsa, Noah and Walter; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews. Born in Canada, Theresa traveled to the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and throughout North America. As a stay at home mother, she fondly referred to herself as a domestic engineer. She worked at the American Legion Mountain Camp (Tupper Lake); as a practical nurse (Malone); and as a cook at the Schenectady senior center. Theresa was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts and belonged to the Home Bureau group Nimble Fingers where she shared her love of knitting and other needle crafts. Constantly doing for others, she volunteered at Quilts for the Homeless and the Open Door Mission in Owego. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, and for a time a Steven Minister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Owego with the Rev. William Moorby, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at a later time. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
