Alberta Feist Obituary

Passed away October 23, 2011 at her home in Lodi, CA. She was born Alberta Cox on January 17, 1917 in Sonora, CA., and the family moved to Santa Rosa in 1932. In 1937, she married Jack Feist and they bought their first ranch (five acres) in 1939. Later on they bought a 300-acre ranch in Ukiah where they raised cattle. They moved back to Lodi in 1968 after their retirement and bought a cattle ranch. In her retirement, Alberta started a new career in the newspaper business as the first office manager of Ropers Sports News, owned and published by her son Robert (Bob) Feist. Alberta was a Pink Lady at Lodi Memorial Hospital for five years, and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Lodi, Red Hat Society, and Emblem Club. She enjoyed playing pinochle, bocce ball, poker, and bingo, was a voracious reader and loved word puzzles. Alberta was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband of 60 years, Jack Feist. She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Hal) Smith of Redding; and son Bob Feist of Lodi; granddaughters Diana (Jeff) Gilmore of Oakley and Barb (David) Carey of New Jersey. She is also survived by her beloved great grandchildren Joey (Kristi) Gilmore; twins Lauren and Danielle Gilmore; Jessica and William Carey; and great-great grandson Jaxson Gilmore (born September 29, 2011). The family held a private committal service at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alberta's name to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204, or through www.hospicesj.org; or the charity of your choice.

Dear Bos and family,
We have gotten to know Alberta while at Chancellor Place. Always enjoyed stopping to talk with her, admiring her vitality and sense of humor. She was definitely inspirational, and should we live a long life like she did, we will strive to have her attitude.
We're sorry for your loss....surely she will be greatly missed.
