Anthony Anello Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Richard Anello, Jr.
August 23, 1948 - September 28, 2025
Tony passed away peacefully after a long fight with health issues on September 28, 2025. His wife, family, and the ones he loved were by his side to make his journey home to the Lord.
Tony was born and raised in San Francisco to Anthony and Frances Anello. His family moved to Guerneville when he was in his teens. Tony never stopped reaching to try new endeavors. As a young adult he was a Calf Roper. After he married his wife and started his family he worked in construction. He had his own Backhoe Business and got into the Apple Business leasing several apple orchards. Tony had trucks for hauling and had a trucking business on the side. Tony bought his 1st of many Commercial Fishing Boats while still tending to his other businesses. He joined the Guerneville Fire Department as a volunteer in 1967 and that was when his love for the Fire Service began. Tony held several positions in the Fire Service as a paid and volunteer. He was an EMT Firefighter and was proud to be in the first EMT class Sonoma County had. Tony was also an Engineer, Captain, Training Officer, Battalion Chief, Union Steward and was a director in two Fire Departments. Tony's skills as a Training Officer are credited for many Paramedics and Fire Fighters here in Sonoma County. Tony was so happy to have one of his dreams come true in the Fire Service, he was able to run the S.F. Fire Boat from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge. Tony always said he accomplished all the things that he wanted to do in his life.
Tony is survived by Carol his wife of 58 years; his four children, Lori (Lou), Gina (Frank), Lisa (Johnny) and Mark (Kim); granddaughters, Taylor (Cameron), Holly, Ashley, and Ayla; and his four great-grandchildren. Tony is also survived by his brother, Steve; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and dear friends.
The family wants to thank the Bodega Bay Fire Department and the wonderful care and compassion of all the Kaiser Doctors and Nurses who were there for Tony.
His Service will be at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 7983 Covert Lane, Sebastopol at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. There will be a Fire Department Burial following the Service at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park 1700 Pleasant Hill Road, Sebastopol. Celebration of Tony's life to follow burial services.

Yesterday

Tony and his family have left such a positive impression with so many people. Most won’t understand this reference but he was my “Fire Daddy.” Similar to a “Sea Daddy” in the US Coast Guard, which is accurate as it was at the USCG Fire Station at Petaluma where he taught me so much. He will be missed, but his legacy as a Firefighter, Fisherman and most importantly a Dad/Grandfather will live on. We love you Tony!

Yesterday

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Tony...Tony and I attended elementary school at St. Anthony's and many many years passed until we held a elementary school reunion in 2004...this event was our reconnection...and, we shared new adventures with he and his family....Rest in peace Tony and truly enjoy the splendor of paradise.. well deserved destination for a wonderful father, husband grandfather and dear friend!
