B.G. Scheuer Obituary

SCHEUER, B.G. "Buz" Died suddenly Saturday, July 9, 2005 in Santa Rosa. Buz was born November 28, 1924 in Sheboygan, WI. He was a valuable member of the community who throughout his life gave of his time in order to better the lives of others. When Buz was seventeen he joined the Air Force and became a B-17 pilot. During World War II he participated in the Holland Food Drop and was later honored in Holland at the 50th Anniversary of VE Day. After the war, Buz attended Santa Rosa Junior College, where he met and married his wife, Betty Scheuer. He went on to graduate from Berkeley and entered the Master's program in Political Science. Buz and Betty settled in Sonoma County and he began a long career as a Real Estate Broker, public accountant and tax consultant. He also served as Dean of Empire College in addition to teaching. Buz served on the Sonoma County Board of Education for 21 years. He was involved with the Council on Aging and served on the Civil Service Commission and Grand Jury in Sacramento. For many years, Buz was a member of the Sebastopol Lion's Club and was instrumental in the ongoing development of Little League Baseball in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa. Buz was greatly loved by family and friends and will be remembered as an avid reader and card player whose favorite activity was sharing his vast knowledge and experiences. In recent years his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He showered them with unconditional love and they all adored him. His wisdom, love and advice will be sorely missed by his wife of 59 years, Betty Scheuer; his five children, Christine (Len) Ingrassia, Mark (Mary-Ann) Scheuer, Jacquilyn (Kurt) Schieber, Paul (Carolyn) Scheuer, and Theresa (John) MacCallum; his 14 grandchildren, Madelyne and Jonathan (Stefanie) Cromwell, Michael (Shannon) Scheuer, Jessica and Paul Schieber, Tara and Kelly Scheuer, Melanie, John, Rebecca, Bridgit and Katie MacCallum, Ashley and Shae and his three great grandchildren, Jaycee, Zander and Owen. Buz was happily awaiting the birth of his fourth great grandchild Constantino Cromwell. He is also survived by a sister, Jacquilyn Knecht of Fallon, NV. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Dr. (Oakmont), Santa Rosa, CA with Msgr. Gerard Fahey officiating. Private interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL 707-539-2921

Dear Betty and Family:

We were honored to meet your entire family as Jon and Stefanie(our daughter) announced their engagement to be married in 2003. We knew Buz just a short time, but felt as though we knew him for years, as well as, your entire family. We would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to you, Betty, and your family.
