Barbara Button-Johnston Obituary

Barbara Lynn Button-Johnston passed peacefully on Sunday October 24 2010 with her husband, Gary, and her son, Gabriel, by her side. Barbara was preceded in death by her Father, Dr. Lucius Lucine Button III, and her mother Jennifer Button-Van Evera. She is survived by her husband Gary K. Johnston; her son Gabriel A. Button; her brother Luke Button, his wife Julie Button and their sons and families, her sister Laurie Cantu, Laurie's husband David Cantu, and her sister Jacklyn Button. Barbara was born in Santa Rosa in 1953. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1971. She graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College in 1973 earning an AA degree. She then moved to Arcata, California where she attended Humboldt State University, where she studied drama. She graduated in 1975, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1975 Barbara moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she studied drama and child development. She graduated from University of Utah in 1980 earning her Masters degree. In 1981, while still in Utah, Barbara gave birth to her son Gabriel. Soon after the birth of her son Barbara moved back to Santa Rosa to concentrate on her health and to raise her son. In 1984 Barbara reunited with her friend Gary, whom she met during her years at Santa Rosa Junior College. Barbara and Gary became best friends and long-time companions. In 2002 Barbara married Gary and for the next eight years she lived a happy and contented life with her little family in Santa Rosa. Barbara, throughout her life, met and retained many, many friends. She loved them all and was loved by them all. Where ever she went and who's ever life she touched was made brighter by her smile, her love, and her positive attitude. Barbara will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 10th at Christ Church United Methodist, 1717 Yulupa Avenue, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
