Barbara Ellen (Mack) Selle died on August 13, 2024 surrounded by her family in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 96.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Denis Selle, her sons Patrick Selle, Michael Selle, and her daughter Abigail Selle.
Barbara is survived by her children Elizabeth Selle Vieira (Russell Vieira), Timothy Selle (Yolanda Selle), and James Selle (Mary Turri- Selle) and her six grandchildren: Kathryn Vieira, Melinda Schad, Margaret Vieira, Rebecca Vieira, Trevor Selle and Carson Selle. She is also survived by her sisters Patricia Kampman, Esther and Wallace Todd, and Eleanor Buckley all residing in Santa Rosa, CA.
Barbara was born July 27, 1928 in Santa Rosa, California to Thomas and Mabel Mack. She attended St. Rose Catholic elementary school, Ursuline High School, and she completed her training at St. Mary's College of Nursing in San Francisco in 1947. While working as a nurse in Santa Rosa, she married Paul Denis Selle in 1955. Barbara and Denis welcomed the birth of Patrick and Michael into their family before they moved to Guatemala in 1958 so Denis could work in the family business. By 1961, the couple and their now 3 children, welcomed Liz, moved back to California and settled in Guerneville, CA. The family welcomed Tim in 1962 and then in 1965 they moved to San Rafael and welcomed James in 1966 to the family.
Barbara was passionate about raising her family, going antiquing with Denis, looking at old homes, creating dried flower arrangements at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Kentfield, CA and traveling to places like Ireland, Canada, Portugal, Hawaii and many other new places.
Memorial mass will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, 398 Tenth Street in Santa Rosa 95401, at 10:30 am on Friday, September 27th. Burial will follow the mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2930 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95404. A Celebration of Life at St. Rose in the reception room will follow the burial.
