Charles Hagle Obituary

HAGLE, Charles August 11, 1944 to June 10, 2002. Charlie Hagle passed away June 10 after a three and a half year battle with leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his children Heather Hagle, Tom Hagle and wife Donna and their children Randi, Taryn, Tommy and Taylor, siblings and their spouses; Betty Smart, Bob and Altheda Hagle, Jim and Judy Hagle, Mary and Tom Miller, John and Cindy Hagle and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie lived in Sonoma County over 50 years. He graduated from Analy High School in 1962. Throughout high school and Santa Rosa JC he was a star athlete. Charlie dreamed of being a major league baseball player, was scouted and drafted by the Giants as a left handed pitcher. Due to an unfortunate injury to his arm, his career as a major league player was ended. When he retired from Safeway, where he worked with his son Tom, he wanted to explore other options but the Leukemia diagnosis prevented it. Charlie enjoyed his garden, roses, making shelves, sitting in the garage, his family and salt watering his daughter Heather’s steel sculpture--this simple act shortened the distance between Santa Rosa and Portland, Maine, where she is getting her Masters in Fine Arts. He was so proud of her and looked forward to her graduation next May. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. There will be an informal gathering to remember his spirit at Doyle Park on Friday, June 14 between 2 and 3 p.m. Donations can be made to the Leukemia Society in his memory.
