Charol Lane (Mrs. Weiss)
Resident of Sebastopol
Charol Lane Schieber was born on October 13, 1945, in St. Louis, MO.
She liked that her name was derived from her parents Charles and Carol. When she was two, her family started to call her Charrie and that name stuck.
She was proud of being the oldest of eight children in the family. She moved five times and had four siblings before she was ten. In 1955, she and her family moved to Santa Clara, CA.
In 1969, she and her former husband Chuck Weiss moved to Sebastopol and bought some property. They lived in a small trailer until they built their home in 1978. She and her husband team taught kindergarten at Kenwood School until she was offered her first principalship at Oakgrove School. Later she served as principal at Pengrove, Point Arena, Yulupa, and Kawana Schools. She also served as a kindergarten teacher at Yulupa. After retiring in 2007, she substituted for ten years with the goal of substituting at every school in the Santa Rosa School District. She enjoyed her career immensely. The hobbies she enjoyed were water aerobics, swimming, reading, attending many film festivals, and frequently going to the Santa Rosa Symphony.
During this time, she also traveled extensively with her mother, sisters, and solo. She was fortunate to be able to exchange her home as well as the family holiday home and enjoyed that style of travel. Last spring on a trip to Japan, she had to return home early with pneumonia and discovered soon after that she had leukemia (AML).
Charrie was a generous and loving aunt. Each year, her nieces and nephews joined her in Sebastopol for a week to celebrate Cousins Camp.
She is predeceased by her father, Charles; sister, Carol Lynn; and brother, Chris Linden. Most importantly, she is survived by her mother, Carol Jean who is 97 years old. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Cyndol Lee, Cathryn Laurie, Camille Louise, Colleen Lisa; and brother, Charles Leslie. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Don, Steve, Paul, Andrew; and sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth and Corizon.
She was delighted to have so many nieces and nephews. She loved being an aunt and great aunt. She is survived by all her nieces and nephews, Paul, Tiffany Lane, Nick, Natalie, Matthew, Sarah, Deborah, Rob, Christa, Chet, Brendan, Sean Paul, Val, Vanessa, Julia; and their spouses, Sai, Justin, Eliot, Chris, Corey, Nicole, Francis and Brian. She is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews.
She had a wonderful life and enjoyed her time on earth.
