Chris H. Beck

Chris H. Beck was born in San Francisco to Chris H. and Lucille Giraurd Beck. He grew up in Petaluma, CA and attended a one-room elementary school house in Sebastopol. He was also a student at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he earned his degree in International Relations. He then transferred to Thunderbird University in AZ and achieved an M.A. in International Marketing. He moved to NYC where he worked in advertising. He then returned to Marin County in 1970 where he made a career in the world of Real Estate. Chris was an avid horseman, a member of Cow Mountain Hunting Club, and a Sonoma County Trailblazer. He was a self-taught naturalist with an extensive knowledge of mushrooms, birds, and wild flowers. Cooking was his passion and everyone enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He had a green thumb and was known for his beautiful container gardens. His thirst for adventure was contagious. Chris never knew a stranger, making friends wherever he went. Chris is survived by his three daughters: Nicole Beck of Santa Cruz, CA, Keirstin Spilde-Beck of Boulder, CO, Erika Beck of Henderson, NV, and by his spouse, Jenni Beck of Novato, CA. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, his extended family, and his many, many friends. A celebration of Chris's life will be held at Novato Horseman's Club at 600 Bugeia Lane, on February 11, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Chris's memory may be made at www.hospicebythebay.org or to a charity of your choice.
