Clifton Nielsen Obituary

Passed away at 60 years old subsequent to falling into a diabetic coma. He has now joined his wife and daughter, Danette and Deanna, already waiting for him in heaven. Cliff was born on August 19, 1949 in San Francisco, CA. Cliff was a rebel from a very early age; he spent much of his life on a motorcycle. Although not formally educated, Cliff was a student of life, having travelled throughout the world for his motorcycle club. Anyone introduced to him would remember him. He was a tough guy with an unbelievable amount of heart. His charisma was his allure. He worked as a draftsman and was a general contractor. He was also accepted on a semi-professional baseball team as a third baseman. Cliff had recently found peace in his life when he moved to Idaho; wanting the simple life and to teach his grandchildren to fish. Although he was of modest means, Cliff was very generous to those he loved. He was well known for his storytelling. Cliff is survived by his children: Lisa Pera, Lori Blackmon, and CJ Nielsen, all currently of Idaho; grandchildren, Matthew, Akira, Mychallyn, Tandon, Dominic, and Savannah; niece and nephews Raquel, Anthony and Christopher (Godson); mother Doris Porro of Santa Rosa; father Pete Nielsen of San Rafael; and loving brother to sisters Diane Corvo of Lake Tahoe and Debbe-Ann Medina of Windsor; and lifetime best friend, Davis Holland of Idaho. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cross and Crown Lutheran Church on Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park. There will be a reception to follow in Windsor.

Although I only met Cliff about 6 yrs ago I will always remember his genuine smile, his unique laugh, his wonderfull stories, his warm huggs, his friendship, his love of talking about the goodness of God, and his special prayers for me a few yrs back just before I went in for surgery. Cliff truely loved people and cared a great deal about them. I am glad to have known Cliff for this short period of time, and my heart felt condolences go out to his family and friends.

Cliffy, that's what I used to call him.
We were the trouble makers in our younger years! Only Cliffy got caught and I didn't...So happy to say that we finally reconnected a few years ago. Cliffy came to our river cabin several times and spent wonderful moments there.
He loved the cabin, and would say "when you going to the cabin again?"
It's times I will always cherish and so happy we were able to be together for a short time. Miss you all the time and wish I could talk to you one more time.
It was a blessing that I was able to be by his side before he took his last breath. I talked, sang, laughed and hummed to him for 4 straight hours, from the time I got to Idaho @ 1am-5am
and he passed shortly after. I like to believe he was waiting for me and that's so awesome. I told him the wings of the angels will wrap him up and take him to God with no more worries and no more pain! I love you, Cliffy, and miss you more than you will ever know.

My sweet brother Cliff! I never thought I would miss hearing your stories and the sound of your voice so much! I wanted to hear all about you teaching the grandkids how to fish and how beautiful the Clearwater River is. We were blessed with such a strong bond! No one in this world could mess with it, that's for sure. It makes my heart break when I want to talk to you, and I can't. I love you dearly brother! I am missing you so much!

Cliff old buddy, you left life too early. We only knew each other 50 years. Was it 58 or 59 when we met? It’s hard to remember anything during or before the 60’s. We sure had some fun then didn’t we? I was expecting quite a few more years having you around. I was so sure you would become a Fishing Guide up there in Orofino. You were a real force in life, it hard to believe you’re gone. I am sure you are now trying to reorganize things in heaven. You will be missed by many. We only get a few lifelong friends. I have lost my longest lasting friend. Good Bye Cliff.

I knew him when I was a kid, my brother and him use to hang out together, I use to hang out with his sister Diane when they lived with their Dad. Cliff was a nice guy. My heart goes out to his Dad Pete, his sisters, and his extended family. We ask for blessings to be upon all of those gathered who are left behind. May the Christ-consciousness attend them in their grief, and may the Holy Spirit surround them, Amen.
