Clyde McCORD Obituary

McCORD, Clyde "Bud" 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 8, 2015. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Melba McCord; his daughter the late Kathleen Ryan, grandsons Robert Stauft and Alex Mallin; granddaughter Nicole Mallin; and his great grandchildren Clyde, Serena, Dylan and Emily; and many other close relatives and friends. Clyde Lyden McCord was born on November 21, 1924 in Healdsburg, CA to Lewis and Esther McCord. He moved to Petaluma California in 1927. A former Eagle Scout and 3rd degree Mason, he enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Petaluma High School in 1943. He served with distinction on the U.S.S. Guadalupe (AO-32) which saw action in every major campaign in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged February 1946 earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (6 stars), Philippine Liberation Medal (1 star), and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war, Bud practiced the tonsorial trade at Two Rock Ranch and Hamilton Field before joining the barber's union and working with his father at Rex Barbershop. With his friend and partner Martin Gavriloff, he went into real estate and the two formed Westgate Realty in 1962. Bud retired from the real estate in 1990 to pursue his other passions: family, traveling and fishing. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday July 18th, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at United Church of Christ, 825 Middlefield Dr., Petaluma. Memorial gifts in Bud's memory may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or the United Church of Christ.

Melba

My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I was in Ireland and learned of Bud's passing just last night.

It is with fondest of memories I harken back to my scouting days and remember all the time and effort the Bud and Bob Johnson put into training Troop 11 boy scouts to be good, productive and honorable citizens of the world. I especially recall the very special times that our Explorer Post had. Bud was a great example and mentor. You may recall our group was small but mighty and we often met in your kitchen to plan events and projects, . and enjoy the mouth-watering cookies and other goodies you prepared for us.

Thank you Bud! Thank you Melba.

With Love and Compassion,

John Nelson
Also an Eagle Scout (thanks to Bud)

Bud was my Husband's Godfather & best friend with my Father in law. I looked forward to each football season, so I could bet on the Raiders with Bud and my Father in-law Gordon Johnsen. I lost many $2 bets to Bud over the years. Our friendship was filled with laughter. I have many "Bud" stories that will continue to make me smile.
