Daniel Austin Obituary

AUSTIN, Daniel E. July 23, 1948 - August 4, 2017 The Great Daniel E. Austin A native son of Guerneville pioneers, Daniel walked six miles down to school and worked in orchards on the way back up to his family ranch on Sweetwater Springs Road. A country boy who always wore tailored suits, he was the successful owner of Austin Realty for over 25 years, and the Riverside Wellness Dispensary. Daniel was deeply loved for his generous heart, loyal friendship and larger than life personality. Nicknamed 'Brave' as a schoolboy, he often said..."the only thing stopping you is fear and common sense". Always the life of the party, to know Daniel was to know laughter, fearlessness and plenty of mischief. He was truly an extraordinary, one of a kind man, who was forever just a big, happy kid, and who brightened all of our lives. He is survived by his two sons, Chris and Darren, his brother Bryce, his longtime business partner and loving life partner, Landa Keen, many beloved relatives, and by a legion of loving friends. A Celebration of his remarkable life will be held on Saturday, August 19th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Villa Restaurant, Santa Rosa.

Happy Birthday Matey! I hope you're smoking a fat dubey up in the sky somewhere. We all miss you, from the loud outbursts of random rhymes to taking forever to eat dinner and managing to eat enough for an entire horse. You may be gone Dan, but you are not forgotten. Love you buddy.

Daniel Cocker Spaniel ... my name to you. You loved to rhyme!
You make me smile - just thinking of you.
When with you, our days were filled with happy, bizarre, goofy, and absolutely unexplainable scenarios. What may have been "ordinary" days for you, were actually some of my "best time" favorite memories. You were such a happy, happy man and were so willing to share that happiness with everyone.
You gave life your all. Never mundane, never ordinary, never just nice. You lived your life in superlatives! You are an example we all should follow. Living life to its fullest. I am so happy that Lisa brought you into our family!
Dan, we'll love you forever. Thanks for your special friendship!
Ciao!
Love, Jim, Carla, and Cam Cavanaugh

Daniel, you were the absolute best! You did it all--your way! Always delightful, kind, generous to a fault, magical, mystical, more fun than anyone, adventurous, a great thinker (you could figure out anything!), an amazing innovator, ahead of the crowd, not egotistical, always going the extra mile to put a smile on anyone's face. However, if we were your friend, we knew it beyond compare. Everything was bigger and better in your presence, especially a sunrise, a sunset, a rose, even a homemade cookie! You always
had everyone's back. Your unique ability to communicate and uncannily cut through layers of trivia and arrive with ease at the essence will be missed. Your light was so very bright, life just simply won't be the same for so many you have left behind. You are now shining even brighter, where all you are is understood and deeply loved and appreciated. You deserve only the very best. Heaven has a special place for you. So long, only for now.

Daniel's character will continually bring us joy. His boisterous laugh and tried and true remarks are making us laugh as we sit here and write. We appreciate Landa letting us know of his passing. We will be at the Villa.
