October 16, 1984 - May 29, 2021
On May 29, 2021 Darren Christopher Houk, loving jokester and spreader of joy died at the age of 36 due to congestive heart failure.
Darren was born October 16, 1984. He was proudly from 707, born and raised in Santa Rosa, CA. In later years he resided in Eldorado Hills, CA.
He grew up very athletic with a love of sports. Vacations with family were some of his happiest times. Burney Falls will forever be a favorite. Darren had a great appreciation for art, movies, puzzles and music, especially Tech9. Darren had a talent for writing poems and letters that were full of heart. He more recently found joy in creating beautiful walking sticks for family members and carving impressive knives out of manzanita wood.
He loved many things in life but nothing more than his family. He is survived by his daughter; Ayiana, sons: Devon and little Darren, his mother; Winona Phillips, sister; Aimee Johnson, nephew; Aiden and grandparents; Lillian and Ron Campbell, and Truman Houk, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also left behind a copious amount of friends and a legion of broken hearts. Darren would be sure tell his closest friend Irina, "I love your face."
He was preceded in death by his big grandma Dretta Adams, grandmother Helen Calvin and father Lonne Houk. Darren will join his father in their final resting place, Burney Creek, a beloved fishing spot of theirs.
Darren charmed many with his mischievous nature and disarming smile. He was always quick to make you laugh until you cried. He was a beautiful human inside and out. His joyful personality, distinct giggle and abundance of kind words would brighten the darkest of days. He truly was a light to many and will be missed "For-Ev-Er".
A celebration of his life will be held on June 26, 2021 at 1pm. located at 15100 Hwy 128, Calistoga, CA. We ask that you join us in wearing a bit of orange in remembrance of him in his favorite color.
As Darren would say; "Till we swing from the gallows."

Darren was like a little brother to me. I just spent a week with him before little Darren was born helping him get his house ready for Stephanie and the baby. I can't believe he's gone. I have known him since he was a teenager and i will miss him Dearly. Rest In Peace my dear old friend. You will be greatly missed!

He was one of my best friends. We always stayed in contact. I will surely miss him. I have lost a surprising number of friends in the last two years but none of them have hit me as hard as this one..... My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
