Dear Bill, Hank and Carl,
Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolence for the loss of your precious mother, Edith. I am profoundly sad and so very sorry to learn of her passing.
Your mother and my mother, Pat Lay, worked together in the operating room at Woodland Memorial Hospital for many, many years.
Before my own mother's passing, she often shared with me, vegetables she was given from your mother's garden, together with wonderful stories of Clark and Edith and all their "adventures." I felt I knew your mother before I ever actually met her! And when I did finally meet her, she was every bit the gentle, warm, friendly, caring, generous soul my mother portrayed.
I really enjoyed having lunch with her and my mom on occasion at the hospital. During those lunches, your mother would share photos of your parents' many trips and travels. She also used to share little "tidbits" about the three of you and what was going on in your lives. She was always and forever the consumate "proud parent." I loved that about her.
I told my mom many, many times that I thought your mom (and dad) had a life that so many can only dream of.
I'm proud to have known your mother and honored to have been able to share a little slice of her life. I am a better person for it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
Fondly,
Lana Parker - Dodd

Dear Bill and family, I pray your sadness will soon turn to sweet memories of your Mom. We all missed seeing you at our class reunion dinner. Our thoughts and prayers were with you as Jeanne shared news about those who were unable to attend. Know that God is always closer in our suffering; He'll hold you up! Hope you can join us at our next gathering - it's been so many years! God bless you.

Bill and Family, Moms are so special and we only get one. I know she will be missed by her family. I thought she was a wonderful woman and nurse. Still remember her coming to our home to give shots for pain to my mom in our senior year of high school. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Aloha oe...

I will miss my Aunt Ede but she will not be forgotten. Whenever I tend to my garden I will remember how much she loved hers. When I come across one of her delicious recipes that she shared with me I will remember how much she loved to cook for her family and friends. When we go to Santa Cruz I will remember the many fun times she had there in her youth. And when I face death I hope I can be as brave and courageous as she was.

Aunt Ede will be greatly missed. I am thankful for all the fond memories she has given me. Her home was always warm and inviting. The food was always wonderful and the conversations thought provoking as well as laughable. She was a part of Lodi history for sure. May all the wonderful memories you have bring you comfort at this time. God Bless! Maryann Woods - Spradley
