Edythe Triglia Obituary
TRIGLIA, Edythe Rosalie (Barberis) Passed away July 8, 2005 in Santa Rosa. She was 85. Edythe was born October 19, 1919 in Calistoga to her parents Domenico and Gilda (Stella) Barberis. She graduated from Calistoga High School in 1937, receiving a vocational scholarship. She enrolled into Dolores Premier Beauty School in San Francisco, where she stayed with the Gravano family. In 1941 she traveled by train to Cheyenne, WY to marry her love, Al Triglia, who was stationed at Fort Warren during World War II. After the war, Edythe and Al built a home and raised 3 children in Calistoga. In 1961 Edythe returned to her profession and worked for Charles Kramer at Sweet Charlie's. When Sweet Charlie's closed, she worked at the Ultimate Kerr's for Kerri Abreu, then followed coworker Richard Hayman to Richard's. Edythe finally retired at age 82, working a total of 41 years as a hairdresser. Edythe never found a sale she didn't like, from Ben Franklin's to Macy's. She enjoyed buying gifts for family members, always proclaiming that "it was on sale". She enjoyed cooling and gardening. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and often exclaimed, "now that's Italian" when it came to serving dishes of food. She enjoyed tending to her flowers in her yard, and the summer garden of vegetables. Edythe is preceded in death by her husband Al who passed away on April 26, 2005. She is survived by her sister Milena (Barberis) Howard; children Linda (Reg) Elgin, Christine (Mike) Maloney and Dominic (Holly) Triglia. Grammy was dearly loved by her 12 grandchildren, Denny, Elisa, Tom, Lori, Shannon, Kevin, Emily, Sarah, Brian, Courtney, Ian and Vito. Also surviving are her 18 great grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Morrison's Funeral Chapel in St. Helena. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on July 14 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Calistoga. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Helena.
