Elsie Marie Chapman (92) of Rohnert Park, CA, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by family and love. Born on September 20, 1933, Elsie lived a long, full life marked by joy, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Victorine Antonio, and by her sister, Elinor Caples. She is survived by her children, Karen Zang, Larry (Mika) Caples, Gayle Caples, and Denise Decker; along with 10 beloved grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Elsie was well loved and a friend to all. She found her greatest joy in the simple moments - cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's games, rolling dice at bunco nights with her dear friends + family, and never turning down a day of fun at the slot machines. Her warm smile, sharp wit, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private burial will be held for the family, with a Celebration of Life to follow on November 2 at 12 p.m. at the Petaluma Community Center.

When my husband, daughter and I moved to California many, many years ago, Elsie was my first female friend...Elsie was kind, funny and always had the kitchen radio tuned to music from San Francisco..........as our families grew we lost contact but I never forgot this sweet lady... I loved her like a dear sister...two years ago we connected again after many years....I'm in Oklahoma...Elsie still in California...but by texts, phone and mail she was still the happy lady I came to love so many years ago...Elsie I love you and I will miss you terribly....My love to you and thank you for the last two years we had as friends....Darlene B.
