James Park Obituary

James Caldwell Park III
10/19/1938 - 10/12/2025
James Caldwell Park III passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, California on October 12, 2025, just a week shy of his 87th birthday. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Alhambra, California, James ("Jim") was a man defined by quiet strength, humility, kindness and generosity. Up until his final weeks, those with whom he interacted and friends alike remarked on his kindness.
He was born to James Caldwell Park, Jr. and Dorothy Marie Teahen, the youngest of three children; two older sisters Anne Kraemer and Mary Enos. After serving in the Army as a voluntary draft, he completed his education and also played baseball at U.C. Davis where he grew to love northern California. He spent summers during his childhood and adolescence helping his uncle on their Montana ranch. He met the love of his life Jeannine Catherine Halet in 1964 through mutual friends and they married in 1965. Once married, they moved to northern California and settled in Santa Rosa. They had two daughters Michele (spouse James W. Andrew) and Nicole (spouse Forrest Arakawa). Jim loved the outdoors, tending animals and nature and was incredibly analytical and handy and could fix just about anything. He had a long career at PG&E in commercial management. Jim was first and foremost a devoted family man and ever present; he was a wonderful partner, father and grandfather. Jim was a gentle soul, with a dry humor and put family and generosity above everything - to his family, loved ones and causes he believed in; In his last chapter, he was best known as "Papa", and his four grandsons (James, Parker, Finn and River) greatly loved and admired him. Jim introduced them to his love of nature, trains, baseball and golf.
Donations can be made in his name to two favorite organizations: UCSF Breast Cancer Research Fund/Center and Redwood Gospel Mission.
