James SERB Obituary

Of Santa Rosa passed away on July 7, 2013, at the age of 63. Jim was born in 1950 in Oakland, CA and relocated to Santa Rosa with his family in 1960. He served in the Artillery Branch of the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Jim remained in the Santa Rosa area where he retired after 30 years of employment with Hansel Ford. Jim enjoyed gardening, cooking, his friends and family, and was a loyal San Francisco Giants fan. His humor and playfulness will be dearly missed. Jim is survived by his brothers, Thomas, Richmond, CA, Gary (Debbie), Santa Rosa, CA, and sister, Kathryne Young, Sebastopol, CA. As well as many close friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Stephen Serb of Santa Rosa, CA. An inurnment service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2930 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 223, P.O. Box 1583, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
