Joe Alger Obituary

Passed away on January 28, 2011 at his home in Healdsburg. Beloved husband of 46 years to Joyce Alger. Loving father of David (Kathy) Alger, John (Jamie) Alger. Proud grandfather of Jacob, Jasmine, Brooke and Kaitlyn. Dear brother of Jenny Alger, Bill Alger and the late Jim, Buddy, and May Alger. Born in Santa Rosa to George and Dora Alger. Joe was raised in Mendocino County. There he began his never ending love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gold mining After raising his family in Windsor and working 20 years with Argonaut Construction Joe and Joyce moved to Healdsburg where Joe spent his happy retirement doing all that he enjoyed with his dachshunds Maggie and Molly always at his side. He will always be remembered for his friendly smile, contagious laughter, generosity and good humor. "Grampa Joe" you will be forever missed. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, February 2nd, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary, 9660 Old Redwood Hwy. in Windsor. Funeral on Thursday February 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shiloh District Cemetery, 7130 Windsor Road, Windsor. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Friends of Gualala, P.O. I met Joe in June 1978. Working on a job with Joe, my father told me to model my working abilities after Joe's, I watched and learned spending long and sometimes late nights with him on the dreaded no-joint pipelines. Joe made work fun and he turned every day into a good one, I will miss him
