Maxine E. Alger, age 82 of North Branch passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Ecumen of North Branch.

Maxine was born on April 3, 1943 in Gilman, Wisconsin to parents, James and Gladys (Hurley) Westaby. She grew up in Stanley, Wisconsin and lived on a dairy farm. She married William Alger on June 18, 1960. Maxine was a dedicated employee and took great care of her family. She enjoyed several hobbies, all outdoor activities and taking care of her whole family. Maxine will be remembered for the love of her family.

She is survived by her children, Char (Joel) Anderson, Billie Jo (Kevin) Benolken, Debra (Michael) LaBore, Bruce Alger and Tricia (Cordell) Schroeder; grandchildren, Keith (Catherine) Benolken, Jeff (Molli) Anderson, William (Becky) Anderson, Greg Benolken, Colton Schroeder and Chloe Schroeder, great grandchildren; Catlin, Faith, Keith Jr., Leland, Landon, Madilyn and Maxwell; great great grandchild, Liv; siblings, Richard Westaby, Charles Westaby, Donald Westaby and Bernadean Shiltz as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband William Alger, parents; James and Gladys Westaby, siblings; Betty Morrisey, Dale Westaby, Joanne Rogowski, William Westaby, Gerald Westaby and Douglas Westaby.

Private family services will be held with interment to take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis next to her husband, William.
