John Ponts

PONTS, John (Johnny) Passed away in Santa Rosa on Friday, April 14, 2006 at the age of 92. He was born in Hawaii on April 20, 1913 while his mother and father, Joe and Anna, were on their way to the United States from Lisbon, Portugal. He married Mary Acquistapace in 1936 and she was his guiding light. He was a mechanic for Union Lumber Company and Georgia Pacific and a Fort Bragg volunteer fireman. He loved to garden at both his home in Fort Bragg and later his deck was spectacular at the Lodge at Paulin Creek in Santa Rosa. He loved people and everyone was his friend. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 1985, his step-daughter Carolyn and her husband Lloyd Doling and great-granddaughter Colette Grimes, his brothers Joe, Clarence and Joaquin Ponts and sister Gertrude Mosley. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law John and Jan Ponts of Santa Rosa, his daughter and son-in-law Rosemary and Dick Donati of Bandon, OR, brothers Jack Ponts of Aloha, OR, Albert Ponts of Fort Bragg, sisters Clytie Mathews of Mendocino, Grace Ferreira of Fort Bragg and Alice McAdon of Windsor, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday April 18, 2006 from 1 to 4 PM at the Eversole Mortuary in Ukiah. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 22, 2006 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Santa Rosa commencing at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Ukiah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity. Arrangements under the care of the EVERSOLE MORTUARY in Ukiah.
