Judy Duncan Obituary

Judy Duncan
Judy Duncan passed away in Santa Rosa, CA on October 11, 2022. She and her twin brother Jimmy were born November 14, 1949, to Robert and Lavona Duncan. Judy was quite the tomboy growing up. She and Jimmy loved to catch lizards and frogs, she continued to catch them years later for her grandchildren. It wasn't uncommon to find a bullfrog in the bathtub.
She loved to dance and could be found in the kitchen dancing with her children, or the refrigerator door if they refused!
She had a tremendous talent for decorating and loved to display her holiday decor for every occasion. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and the classic "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree" bellowed as she decorated. Anything that didn't get out of the way got adorned with hot glue and a bow.
An accomplished baker, she always had a pie, banana bread or cookies displayed in her kitchen. Her sugar cookie recipe is a family favorite. Her sister Debbie uses her recipe on special occasions.
Judy had several careers including cosmetology, medical, and eventually went on to own and operate "Mother Goose Daycare" where she cared for every child as if they were her own. After closing her daycare, she spent most of her days with her grandchildren baking cookies and doing crafts.
Judy was known to some as Do-Do, Mom, Grandma or Miss Judy. She was small in stature but big in spirit. She was fun loving, gentle and a force to be reckoned with. A perfectionist to a fault she gave every task 110% and tended to overdo everything. She was a dreamer who loved her family and saw beauty in every person, place and thing. She was Mary Poppins, Martha Stewart, and Lucille Ball all rolled up into one! She encouraged us to follow our dreams, never give up and made childhood magical. She believed a hot bath fixed everything. She made every tiny detail special - that was her way.
Judy is survived by her children D'Ambra Swenston, John Poncetta, Shallin Tamayo, Tiana Adams, siblings Debbie Thrash and Tom Duncan, grandchildren Jaci, Jody, Mariah, Giana, Payton, Kennedy, Avery, Austin, Coltin, Marshall and great grandchildren Bandi, Charlie, Duncan, Jaxon, Amelia and many nieces and nephews.

I first met Judy in 1963, when she was just entering her teens. Her brother, Bob, became my life-long best friend that year, so lots of time was spent at the Duncan house throughout high school and beyond. Judy was an absolute doll and as she grew older, every one of Bob's friends had a crush on her, myself included. Besides being so pretty, she had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor.
I know what a devoted mother she was and the last time I saw her, the conversation focused on her many grandchildren.
I'm saddened by her passing, but have many wonderful memories of her, from years gone by. My condolences to Judy's extended family and friends.
