Luella Parmer Obituary

PARMER, Luella Maxine - Age 82, passed away at the Parkview Gardens skilled nursing facility in Santa Rosa where she had been receiving loving care for two and one half years. Maxine was born on March 26, 1924 in Carterville MO. She moved with her family to Southern California in 1936 where she met and married her husband John in 1942. They have been Northern California residents of Santa Rosa for fifty years. Maxine was best known for her creative nature, sense of humor and dedication to her family. Maxine was a lover of music, ceramics, fine arts and crafts. She was proficient in oil and acrylic painting, pencil and pastel drawing, gemstone lapidary, cloisonn‚, silversmith jewelry, and ceramics. Maxine was John's lifelong co-pilot, supporting and participating in his love of flying, and was proud to have earned a high mark of 93 on her Airman's Exam. She was a past member of many local arts organizations including Santa Rosa Gem and Mineral Society, Santa Rosa Art Guild, and the Sebastopol Art Workshop. She was a lifetime Honorary Member of the Artists' Roundtable, exhibited in and received juried awards from many art shows in and around Sonoma County. Maxine was sweet and charming and had many friends. She will be dearly missed. Maxine is survived by John, her loving and devout husband of 65 years; her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Barbara Parmer of Rohnert Park, CA; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Susan Parmer of Burlington, VT; sister Gladys Wheeler of Calistoga, CA; grandsons Derek Parmer of San Jose, CA; Rick Lewis of San Diego, CA, Nick Lewis of San Diego, CA, Jack and Christopher Parmer of Burlington, VT; granddaughters Debra Jo Mishler of Petaluma, CA, Lorri Lewis of Rohnert Park, CA and nine beautiful great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL PARK, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa. Friends may be received at the Parmer residence following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Artists' Roundtable, P.O. Box 2271, Santa Rosa, CA 95405. The Artists' Roundtable is a non-profit corporation founded in 1953 to stimulate interest in and promote appreciation of fine arts and crafts.
