Psalms 84:10 (NKJV) 10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. Early Sunday morning, October 14, 2012 God sent an angle to pick a rose from His Rose Garden and He chose a faithful usher, Mary E. Dickerson/Goodwin. Mary was born June 18, 1941 in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the late Moreese and Mable Burgess. She completed her early education and then attended Grambling College. Mary united with the Second Bethlehem Baptist church and attended faithfully until she moved away. Moving to San Francisco in 1968 and later to Rohnert Park, California she worked for the United States Post Office for many years. She united with Community Baptist Church under the leadership of late Rev. James E. Coffee and served faithfully on the usher board for over thirty years until her death. Mary also headed up the Mall Ministry, served with the Mission Outreach, a member of the Adult Women's Sunday School and attended Bible Study Fellowship. Mary leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Efrem (Sherri) Dickerson of Santa Rosa, CA and Byron Dickerson of Rohnert Park, CA; three grandchildren, Demetrius, Darren, and Jazlyn Dickerson; two step-grandchildren, Dewayne (Erica) Grayer and Latrice Grayer. Four sisters; Bennie Ruth Martin of Jamaica, NY, Gladys (Henry) Johnson, Catherine Burgess and Wanda Burgess of Alexandria, LA; four brothers, Roy (Jerrie) Burgess of Petaluma, CA, Donald (Patricia) Burgess, Rodeo, CA, Benjamin Burgess of Rohnert Park, CA and Bonnie Burgess of Alexandria, LA; four step-great-grandchildren, a dear friend, Estella Fulton, and a host of nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends & family are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. A Funeral service will be held on Wed., Oct. 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 1620 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, with commital to follow at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
