Michael Yankovich

1952 - 2025

Michael Grant Yankovich, beloved husband, father, & brother, and long-time Sonoma resident, passed away on October 17th, 2025. He was 72.
Mike Yankovich was born in the Territory of Alaska on November 22, 1952. He got his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, his Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California, and later became a planning commissioner.
On April 20, 1996, he married Jennifer Ann Brumley. He moved to Sonoma, California in 1996 and worked to lead the Planning Department at the County of Solano for 24 years. He was a member of the Otoe-Missouria Indian Tribe, based in Red Rock, Oklahoma.
He had a passion for sports, including golf, baseball, tennis, and football. Mike grew up in a military family, based from Patrick Air Force Base in Florida where he spent his teen years on beaches, surfing, sailing, and diving. He attended the University of Florida where he earned his BS and played Gators baseball. Mike moved west to California to attend USC and was a lifelong fan of Trojan football. He loved his family, food, wine, and travel.
He is survived by three siblings, Kimberly Renee, Mark Scott, & Michelle Delys Antenori, two sons, John Grant & Maxwell Grant, a daughter, Samantha Cleghorn, and Jenny, his wife of 29 years.
