Nancy Acord Obituary

Nancy Jean Loughborough Acord
Nancy Jean Loughborough Acord died on May 6, 2021, following a long illness and complications from a recent fall. Born April 1, 1958, in Santa Rosa, she was the youngest daughter of William and Jean Loughborough. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Tom Acord, of Hayward, CA, her sister Carol Freeland (Mark E. Freeland), nieces Melanie Pearson and Tiffany Millea (daughters Makayla and Sydney), and stepchildren, Jason Blum and Sophia K. Acord. Nancy's parents, her brother, Bill "Lupin" Loughborough, and niece Yvonne Freeland Umeni preceded her.
After high school, Nancy attended Santa Rosa Junior College focusing on the sciences: geology, biology, marine biology, astronomy, and botany. Her interest and passion in these subjects never wavered as she became a dedicated camper, hiker, skier, snorkeler, rock-hound, gardener, astronomer and photographer.
Professionally, Nancy became a solid and creative retail manager, managing a video store, a Nature Store in Vacaville, and an Any Mountain store in Dublin, CA. Nancy's last position was with the White Buffalo in Truckee where her knowledge of minerals and geology were a tremendous asset.
A woman of great imagination, energy, passion and artistic talent, Nancy deeply touched the souls of friends and strangers alike.
A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2 pm at the Bennett Valley Grange, 4145 Grange Rd, Santa Rosa CA 95404. For more information, please call Tom Acord at 510 886-5996.
