HANSEN, Norman G. 63, a coach, teacher and longtime resident of Rohnert Park, died of cancer on November 12, 2002 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Rosa. During his 29 year teaching career at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park, Mr. Hansen coached the wrestling and football teams. He also taught physical education and driver’s education, and served as an administrator at the school for a short time. Born May 5, 1939 in San Francisco, Mr. Hansen attended California State University at Los Angles. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his son Tor, of Rohnert Park; his longtime companion, Linda Williams; his mother Mary Rippin, of Reno; and two sisters Nora of Santa Rosa, and Barbara of Connecticut. A memorial service will be held November 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Rancho Cotate High School. There will be a potluck reception following the service. Adobe Creek Mortuary is in charge of cremation. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Heartland Hospice, 2455 Bennett Valley Rd., Ste B214, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.

You will be and are missed. I'm glad I was lucky enough to know you. I was always playing against your teams in both football and wrestling. But you still helped shape the athlete I became way back then. Thank you. And Rest in Peace my friend.

Mr. Hansen won the hearts of many of the students that had the pleasure to honor know him and to have learned from him. I am the grandmother of one of his students and I've heard many wonderful things about him. I know he will be dearly missed and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry Mr. Hansen's family loss. I graduated 2 years ago from Rancho Cotate and he was my teacher. He was such a great teacher he had a great personality he was funny and cared about his students. He will be missed!
