Peter Marks Obituary
August 28, 1943 - October 20, 2022
Peter died peacefully at home on October 20, 2022, from congestive heart failure. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Margaret Marks, his brother, and his former wife, Nancy Jean Marks. Peter was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and spoke often of his early years growing up there. He attended Cleveland Institute of Art, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, then entered the US Army and was eventually transferred to Fort Ord, California. Upon discharge he put his education and talents to work as a designer, master finish carpenter, artist and antique dealer. He and Nancy also owned an interior design business, JP Marks, for a number of years in downtown Petaluma. More recently, Peter's cabinetry work can be found in a number of homes and several small businesses in the Bay Area. Many private parties own his carvings and found objects sculptures, which can also be seen at Chelsea Antiques in Petaluma. Although Peter died with no living relatives, he left behind many loyal friends, clients, and business associates. He will be profoundly missed by all. A private reception to celebrate Peter's life is being planned for the near future.
