Richard Leo "Poz" POZZI obituary

Richard POZZI Obituary

On December 8, 2012, at the age of 72, peacefully joined the rest of the angels while surrounded by his family at his Santa Rosa home. He gave so much of his heart to everyone around him, that his body just could not handle it any longer. He fully enjoyed life with friends and family and anxiously looked forward to his annual family vacation and the many camping and fishing adventures. He was raised in Bloomfield, CA and graduated from Tomales High School. He worked on his parents, Leo and Clara's, dairy ranch while playing softball as a pitcher for Grayview Farms and later the Guanella Brothers world champion softball team. He later went into the bar business and has been a bookkeeper for the past 37 years. He had a true passion for sports (especially the SF Giants and 49ers), fishing, camping, vacationing with family, and being around his many good friends. He simply loved life. Poz is survived by his children, Rick (Robin), Kathleen (Larry McClure), Bill (Monica), and grandchildren, Christina, Ricky, Jessica, Michael, Michelle, Billy, Leanne, Kailee, Kevin, and Ryan. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren with two on the way. He leaves his sister Diane, many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also leaves behind his ex-wife and lifelong companion and friend, Judy and his best friends and confidants, Larry and Denise Grove. Poz leaves behind so many good lifelong friends that they simply could not all be named. He touched everyone that came into contact with him with his generosity, big heart, sense of humor, teasing ways, and easy going demeanor. He was truly a one of a kind, unconventional and unique person that will be missed by all that knew him. A celebration of life date and time will be announced after the holidays.

Richard Pozzi Family & Friends,
We were very saddened to learn of Richard's passing. I went to school in Bloomfield with Rich. I can remember playing tag football with him and when I pulled a tag, one time, I tore his pants and his Mom was so mad at me for that. But this was one rough game--sometimes. We had fun! Later on there were many card games, my husband used to play with Poz and others. Then another time, before any of us had children, we headed for the hills to go gold panning. Remember, Judy? Another fun time. He has left us with a few good memeories, and I am sure he will be missed by many.

You were a big part of my childhood years as my step-dad. I will never forget your love for life, sports, softball or driving racecar. Although it's been a couple of years since I seen you last, I have never forgotten you. You helped contribute to who I have become. You will be missed. My heart and love goes out to all of your family.

I had the pleasure of callig Pozzi my step-father for many years. Cheering him on at baseball games at Comstock and watching him zip along the race track in the orange car number 53 at the Petaluma speedway. Thank you Kathy, Rick and Billy for sharing your dad with me. I am sorry for your loss, you had a great dat. He will be missed.

Pozz, although I am not your longest friend you certainly were a bright light in my life through the years I have known you. Your coined phrase will always bring a smile to my face "I GUESS ITS TIME TO GO HOME"
May those above welcome you with open arms! Godspeed to you!

Dad,
What is a daughter to do with out her Dad? You were more like my big boy sometimes, and I feel like I have lost my only son. Our senseless daily conversations will be sorely missed. I love you exactly how you were and you never dissappointed me in your crazy ways. I will miss you with all of my heart. I loved you and always will-big guy!!

My father Clyde Wiggins pitched against Rich Pozzi in the Petaluma Night League and at tournaments. I remember Mr. Pozzi had a great rise ball, it just exploded on the batter. For me, I might as well have been watching professional ball, the quality of the play was that good. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pozzi family.

The Pozz
A bet,a call a wager your part of this team
A possible win and the ultimate dream
A sports guru, a gambler, a prankster, and best friend
You were always there for everyone up till the very end
Saturday's wont be the same without our dear friend Pozz
The cards, the calls, bad beats that everybody knows
You lived life to the fullest and helped out everyone
Now rest in peace dear friend your work here is all done
Look Out Lord he's coming heaven won't be the same
It's Richard Leo Pozzi and you can bet he'll bring his game

Blessed to have had you in my life
