Rita Riordan Obituary
Passed away May 20, 2021 in Petaluma, CA. Age 77 years. She joins her beloved husband of 46 years, Patrick Riordan, and parents, Otis and Ida Boone (Bustos). Loving mother of Theresa Chelini (Steve) and Patrick Riordan (Kimberly). Cherished grandmother of Brandon and Ashley Chelini and Mikayla and Matthew Riordan.
As a Colorado native, Rita moved to Novato in 1964 before relocating to Petaluma in 1969. Rita was a member of St. James Church and PAPA.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Church in Petaluma on Friday, June 18 at 11:00am.

We were truly blessed to have the Riordans as our next door neighbors for 25 years. Rita was always there with a smile and a cookie for our dogs. She was a genuinely kind and caring neighbor and she will be greatly missed.

I haven't lived in Petaluma for 20+ years but, used to go to lunch with Rita and Martha. She was a sweet lady and I remember one time when myself and my husband, Dan were going on vacation and had nursed a wild bird back to health. We needed a baby sitter and Rita volunteered to take care of our little wild thing. This was around the time she had a bunny, which as I remember loved jelly beans.
I wish we had corresponded with each other, as I enjoyed her company. How sad it is with good intentions we fall by the wayside and lose touch. I remember also, her son Patrick taking Martha, Rita and myself for a plane ride which was enjoyed by us all.
I send my condolences to the family and though I had not seen her for a long period of time just had to speak of her sweetness and friendship.
I am sorry for your loss and know you will find comfort in the passage of time and memories.

May the family find comfort in knowing how much Rita touched my life with her warm-hearted presence and friendship. This wingless angel one day stood at our doorstep with flowers and fruit to help see me through my own illness and to offer support and encouragement in the months ahead.
I admired her strength and independence and her immense devotion to her family which always came first. I am honored to have known her and to have called her my friend. May she rest in peace and enjoy the eternal rewards she so richly deserves.
