Robert Leach Obituary

Robert Kent Leach
December 20, 1946 - May 11, 2025
Born December 20, 1946, in San Rafael CA. Began his next chapter May 11, 2025.
Survived by his loving children, Kim, Kelly, Kassie (Dave), Kirsty (Nick), Granddaughters Heather, Shelby, Kaitlin, Lexi, Kalyssa, Zoe, Samantha and step grandson James. Brother Dale Leach (Janice), 6, soon to be 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kent had a childhood full of adventure and excitement growing up in Santa Venetia. From water skiing behind a car around the lake that is now Marin County Civic Center to introducing loud and intimidating motorcycles into his quiet peaceful neighborhood. After graduating from Terra Linda High School in 1964 he proudly joined the Marines.
Upon completion of his Marine commission, he embarked on a colorful, crazy and daring time period that only the 60's would have allowed. From building his first motorcycle in his upstairs apartment to harassing most of the Marin County Police Dept. he managed to survive using only a few of what we believe to be his 19 lives.
In 1975 a date with Jo, arranged by his best friend Tom (soon to be brother-in-law), turned into a lifelong partnership. The last 50 years were filled with incredible memories, endless adventures and raising a beautiful family that he couldn't be prouder of.
Kent pursued a successful career in carpentry, working with some of the best, contributing to the construction of significant projects in Sonoma County while also dedicating himself to being a loving father. Camping, fishing, dance recitals, graduations, marriages, grandchildren and endless hours at the ballfield for women's and girls' softball. He also managed to carve out time to hone his love of hunting, taking numerous trips outside of CA for that perfect buck.
As the children grew and left home, Kent reignited his real passion motorcycles. Starting out with a speedy souped-up shovelhead he moved on to a more comfortable speedy souped-up FXR. From there it was 'the old man's bike, a dresser, just as speedy and souped-up. His old man's bike became a source of joy, taking him on rides with friends and family some short, some across the country, creating unforgettable experiences and treasured memories along the way. Kent's love of motorcycles and the open road continued to fulfill his adventurous spirit and bring him closer to his cherished memories and loved ones.
It's hard not to imagine that in Kent's next chapter he isn't with his lifetime friends, Tom, Jerry & Larry racing through the clouds to see who wins. I know who I have my money on.

I want to say thank you Kent. Thank you for being such a great man. This truly makes me so sad to hear. My Dad Larry Loved you so much. Thank you for all the memories I was so honored to hear throughout my life and all the familiar names. When I heard the names Kent, Jerry, Tom, Phil, and Larry or the Elliott boys, I knew there would be a most epic story behind it. Thank you for speaking at my Dads celebration. I knew then how much you truly loved him back. I do know you two loved to give each other a hard time that lasted until the bitter end. I am truly sorry to Jo and his family and friends for your loss. I hope they are all riding and causing a ruckus with the everlasting ride in the sky. love to you all.

I met you in 1955, I last saw you at our 60th high school reunion, what a long strange trip from then to now. You looked great like you always did, standing tall with your trimmed goatee beard, still upset about Tom going too soon.
Happy Trails I'll be seeing you soon with the other ghost riders.
