Ryan Lowery Obituary

Ryan Michael Lowery
August 2, 1974 - March 6, 2024
Ryan Michael Lowery was born in Santa Rosa on August 2, 1974, to mother, Pamela Swift (d. 10/08/2007), and father, Michael Lowery.
Ryan, a nurturing father and adoring husband, spent his life exploring and appreciating both the rural and urban aspects of his hometown. From city parks to local legends, to mom-and-pop restaurants and breweries, Ryan always left his mark on and maintained pride in the community around him. To Ryan, nothing was better than a good meal, a great album, and beautiful scenery. His favorite evenings might involve a Hen House on tap and a summertime walk along Brush Creek to Flat Rock with his grandchildren. Ryan's eclectic taste in music, which was always playing in the background of his home, is preserved by the "Dad Mix," a playlist he curated over several years with his daughter, which hosts everything from punk anthems to 80s love ballads.
On March 6, 2024, Ryan lost his life at the age of 49 after a five-month battle with glioblastoma, a rare type of brain cancer. He left this world suddenly, but not without meeting many beautiful milestones with his loving family.
In the last few years of his life, Ryan was able to be the Papa to three wonderful grandchildren, check off a bucket list item by traveling to Rome and Venice, and celebrate 25 years with his wife on the beaches of Maui in March of 2023. Just weeks prior to his death, he gathered enough strength to celebrate his son's 21st birthday by buying him his first beer.
His loss is deeply felt by the immediate family he leaves behind: his devoted wife, Melanie, and his three children, Amber, Kelci (husband Blake), and Ryan. He is also survived by his father, Michael (wife Vicky), and his sisters, Sara and Lacey (husband Kenny), as well as several of his doting grandparents, aunts, and uncles. His quiet kindness and ever-mischievous presence will be missed by family, friends, and acquaintances alike.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Sonoma County Parks Foundation in Ryan's honor.

Ry, sorry it´s taken this long, it´s still hard to put the words together. My heart is broken, I miss you so much. We didn´t talk every day or week or even month, but we could always just pick right back up. I never saw you as just my step-brother, and the best part, you never really treated me like that pesky little sister, you always included me. I am definitely going to miss updating you on Trenton´s races, you were such a proud uncle.
I love you Ry and miss you so dang much!

My step-brother Ryan was indeed mischievous. And so very loving. He made sure my family had dinner when I was in treatment for Cancer, and he was the most caring, devoted father and husband. I wish we´d spent more time together as adults. It´s a reminder that visit opportunities are not limitless.

I will never forget his zeal for living as a kid. He once zoomed around on his bike in Rincon Valley, popped a wheelie across the street from our house, and landed smack in the middle of the long-spike cacti planting in the neighbors yard. OUCH! After recovering from that, it never slowed him down. I´ll miss him.
