Steve was my research partner on the Zachariah Lee Genealogy . He always had a new lead and more microfiche and microfilm to look at. He was a genealogist extraordinaire that linked the Lee family to the Hanks (Lincoln) project.

My condolences to the family of Steve Whitlock. Steve and I became friends through our common interest in the ancestry of Abraham Lincoln. Steve was the driving force for the research for the Nancy Hanks Lincoln mtDNA Study. We will be placing an acknowledgement of his research contributions to the Study on GeneticLincoln.com As much as I will miss Steve´s tireless research abilities, I will miss his fríendshhip more.

I am so sorry to hear this. I knew Steve only by email, and a couple phone calls from working with Steve on the Nancy Hanks mtDNA study. I think we all looked at Steve as our real expert at finding living descendants of historical figures we were working on. He was always willing to lend a hand gladly. I'd hoped to someday get down to meet him in person, and I'm so disappointed I didn't make it. My condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Steve was my research partner on the Hanks family lines. He asked the questions, made the arguments, drove the debates, sometimes praised my work and always kept me honest. I will miss him.

I couldn´t have asked for a better Father-in-Law. A fascinating And generous man, who welcomed me into the family with open arms and a warm smile. His journey was epic and has only just begun.

What can I say about a war vet NCR specialist who fixed the zip+4 mail sorting prototype did geology and lived my mother and grandma. I hope to be 1/2 the man you were. Took 2 hearts for all that love.

Thank you for loving my mom. Thank you for tolerating my teen years and for showing me a new kind of life in San Francisco. Thank you for teaching me about basketball and writing and Jim Croce and how to make "Steve´s GD Cookies. Thank you for hearing me and working out our challenges. Thank you and Mom for giving me another sister in Hilary and my niece and nephews Kasandra, Roger, and Brent. Thank you for giving Mom her dream of a log home and thank you for always accepting me back home. I will always, always love you for loving my mom. Rest In Peace, Steve. You are loved and missed here, but I have a feeling there a few Hungarian ladies in the afterlife rejoicing.
